Functional Insights into Supply Planning Core Solution Building Blocks

Description
This course explores the functional capabilities of the o9 Supply Planning Solution and the associated features for the 2023.12 version of the Supply Planning Product.

Learning Objectives:
• Understand supply chain strategies, fulfillment models, and Reference Process Models, including L0-L1-L2 workflows, to optimize decision-making and integrated processes.
• Leverage Master Supply Planning capabilities to manage parameters, analyze resource usage, and interpret reports for effective planning.
• Apply tools such as BODLane Transmode Parameters, Capacity Mix, Line Speed, and Production Override to address complex supply chain scenarios.
• Resolve supply chain gaps with features like Missing Manufacturing Network, New Lanes for STOs, and Stretched Lead Time for Deployment.
• Utilize advanced planning functionalities, including Constrained MRP Run, Sourcing Priority, and Consumption Yield, to improve resource allocation and operational efficiency.

Commencing with an overview of the Supply Chain and Business Strategies, Fulfillment Models, and Key Decision Indices, the course delves into an in-depth examination of Reference Process Models. It discusses various planning process interconnections, decision-making aspects, handoffs, and integrated workflows, through the L0-L1-L2 process flows. The course covers major capabilities within the Master Supply Planning functions, empowering planners to utilize them to understand associated workflows and interpret reports.

The Supply Planning Capabilities module introduces a comprehensive suite of tools to streamline and optimize supply chain planning processes. This module covers ten critical topics. Beginning with BODLane Transmode Parameters allows planners to manage activity parameters at a more granular level with seamless currency and UOM conversions. Capacity Mix provides insights into resource usage by detailing the hours and units consumed while highlighting available capacity, which is crucial for effective manufacturing planning. Line Speed (ABDM) focuses on defining production speed and measuring the output of items per unit of resource consumption, thereby improving production efficiency.

Planners will learn how to use the Production Override feature to supersede solver-generated plans, locking specific values and adapting production to meet unique requirements. Missing Manufacturing Network functionality helps identify and resolve missing associations, such as BOMs, routings, or resources, ensuring smooth network formation. For unplanned STOs, the New Lanes for STOs feature automatically associates Item-BODLanes, enabling seamless integration into the planning process.

The module also addresses the challenge of distribution delays with Stretched Lead Time for Deployment, allowing planners to adjust lead times by accounting for off-day rules, such as weekend holidays for transportation. Learners will explore Constrained MRP Run, which enables the generation of material requirement plans under specific constraints using the Weekly Solver. Sourcing Priority emphasizes defining network priorities that guide solver traversal to satisfy demands efficiently. Finally, the module covers Consumption Yield at Item Level, helping planners evaluate the percentage of yield in use or consumed for better resource allocation.

This course gives planners the knowledge and tools to address complex supply chain scenarios, optimize workflows, and enhance overall planning efficiency. By mastering these capabilities, learners will gain a robust understanding of supply chain planning and its practical applications.

This course incorporates hands-on exercises, guiding participants through various workflows to execute specific processes. Emphasis is placed on the practical usage of these capabilities when using the Supply Planning Reference Product.
